SUNDAY, AUGUST 21st: 'Virgin of the Candles' is a short film written and directed by Argentinian-born Victoria Giordana. Victoria was earning her master's degree from Academy of Art College when she asked Wendy Loomis to compose the music for her thesis film. This past week 'Virgin' was chosen to be included in the International Latino Film Festival to be held at the famous Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Wendy's score to this wonderful short includes musical performances by Barbara Jaspersen (vocals), Monica Williams (alto and pan flutes), Jessie Webber (bata drums), and Suellen Primose (cello). The film premieres on Sunday, August 21st, and Wendy and Monica will attend. Congratulations to all!
SUNDAY, AUGUST 29th: The Table is a spiritual center in Berkeley, California that hosts a myriad of interesting programs including knitting, pottery, and drum meditation (led by Tami Groves and Wendy Loomis). THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th: Copus Music and Shelton Theater come together to present the best of Bay Area poets and composers in a new festival of celebration called ‘Word2Word’. The line-up for September 9th includes spaghetti western funk band Blvd Park, COPUS, poet Timothy Trygg and singer/songwriters Jason Mabie, Dionne Pickard and Nathan Choo.
